If you had lost money on ICOs, you would have known that not all ICOs are DAPPs! The DAPP would have enforced the timely terms of the contract with the development team, and prevented them from hightailing way before the milestones specified in their whitepaper, at the expenses of the investors.

When does one consider building their business as a DAPP?

What sorta businesses should consider building a dapp vs going with the current industry standard smartphone and PWAs?

What are the advantages of building a Dapp?

What are good use cases of startups that have gone the dapp way?

It all boils down to: What value do they bring to the world? What problem do they solve? Is their idea something that is needed? And if they pass all of that, what is their competition?

Good video informative, the good thing about icos is you can make a killing if you are lucky. I decide mine monero because is easier and cheaper than bitcoin and I insert a javascript to my site using coinImp platform I'm investing in monero tech so my point is not all the icos are a fraud, if people never would have invested on bitcoin nothing of this it would be happend.

You can tell the creator of the video has no idea what a DAPP is if you spend literally the entire time ripping on ICOs. A DAPP is just a website with backend components in smart contracts. It doesn't have to be it's own token, it doesn't need to be an ICO.

  33. Warsame Ahmed

    July 17, 2019 at 2:49 am

Please provide the explanation what a DAPP is to your listeners. It stands for Decentralized Application. It does not mean a Startup

Hey, Nice Work on the video. I have a Question, Is it Possible to Convert an Already Built App that is on a Central Server and Decetralise it Later On?
    Like Can UBER Decentralise Itself?

  38. bdeely

    July 17, 2019 at 2:49 am

This was a bit incoherent; kind of like a stream of consciousness. It could use some more structure. It could have ended at 'dapps are applications built on top of blockchain technology' or had more of an explanation of how that works from a high-level, but more technical perspective.

But instead of explaining what that means, you went on tangents about books you like….

Great videos, thanks for taking time to make and upload them. Most of the Ethereum/Blockchain talk goes way over my head, but I'm trying to understand the value of it. The examples in the video Car/mortgage/rent etc make it easier to understand, but it raises more questions for me. Four years ago i purchased a vehicle online from a dealer in another country. I viewed the pictures and details then paid through my internet banking. Of what i remember, it was an easy enough transaction. In the landlord tenant situation, a direct debit for any recurring payments has been the normal practice for a long time. Also the part about raising a good profile as a good tenant for always paying on time, where you could maybe obtain a better credit rating, this is also an established method. Everyone's credit score is already out there. I hope I'm not sounding negative. As I said at the start, most of this technology is beyond me, but i think like most people, I want to know (1) what can be done that couldn't be done before? and (2) why will it be useful to the majority of people?

    Thanks again for your videos
